Long Island, New York

Kitchens for Long Island’s Gold Coast, North Shore, and waterfront homes.

Long Island is where New York’s great estates were built, and it remains a region of generous homes — from the Gold Coast mansions and North Shore colonials of Nassau to the waterfront houses and equestrian properties of Suffolk. The space, the gardens, and the light give a kitchen the room to become the centre of a household’s life, and HS Kitchens Studio has spent more than twenty-five years designing and building kitchens worthy of that setting.

Based in Queens, we serve the wider Long Island region with the same standard we bring to our nearest commissions: a kitchen designed around the way your household cooks, gathers, and entertains, hand-built in our own joinery, and installed by our own fitters — never subcontracted. The proximity of our joinery means we can measure on site, build to the millimetre, and return to scribe and fit against walls that are rarely as true as they look.

Every commission begins with a private consultation in your home. We listen to how you live before we draw a single line, then develop concept plans, elevations, lighting design, and a material board, refined in person until every detail is intentional. The cabinetry is then built to the millimetre and installed by our own team.

The Approach

Designed for the estates, the shore, and the homes of Long Island.

A Long Island kitchen often has the footprint that Manhattan and Brooklyn kitchens envy — room for a generous island with seating, a butler’s pantry linked to the kitchen, a dressing room beyond the master suite, and full-height cabinetry that meets the ceiling. We design for the space rather than working around its absence, while keeping the room resolved and never crowded.

The Gold Coast estates and North Shore colonials, in their Tudor, shingle, and classical styles, ask for a kitchen that respects the architecture of the house — in-frame cabinetry, painted finishes, and materials with the warmth of age. The waterfront homes of the North Shore and the Hamptons ask for something lighter, more open to the view. In every case we design within the architecture rather than against it.

The standard is the same wherever we build. Timber selected by leaf and matched for grain. Drawers dovetailed and squared against the drawings. Finishes hand-applied in honest light. Stone selected slab by slab at the yard, with you present. Hardware in unlacquered brass and bronze that ages with the room. Installation by our own fitters, with aftercare for as long as you own the home.

The Long Island Experience

Citywide craft, brought to your Long Island home.

Because our designers and makers work under one roof, the same hands that draw your kitchen build it, and the same person who designs it stays involved through installation. That continuity matters wherever we work, and it is what allows us to bring a single, accountable standard to every commission — including Long Island.

Long Island homeowners often come to us for the rooms beyond the kitchen as well — a butler’s pantry that takes the pressure off at dinner, a dressing room that turns a master suite into a boutique, a library and media wall that gives a living room its gravity, or a bathroom vanity built like a piece of furniture. Because all of it comes from one joinery, the rooms speak one language, and the home reads as one commission.

Whatever the architecture and whatever the scope, the conversation begins the same way: in your home, with no templates and no pressure.
