A Brooklyn kitchen is often a renovation within a historic fabric. Original cornices, parquet floors, and plaster walls that have stood for a century demand a kitchen that respects what is there while delivering what a modern household needs. We design within the room — its proportions, its light, its limits — rather than imposing a plan that fights the building.
Every commission begins with a private consultation in your home. We listen to how you cook, gather, and entertain, then develop concept plans, elevations, and a material board, refined in person until every detail is intentional. The cabinetry is then hand-built in our joinery and installed by our own fitters — never subcontracted.
The Approach
Designed for the building, built for the household.
A brownstone kitchen in Brooklyn Heights is not a loft kitchen in Williamsburg, and we design for the difference. In a brownstone, we work within the original envelope — preserving cornices and floor lines, scribing cabinetry to plaster walls that have settled over generations, and resolving the relationship between the kitchen and the parlor floor. In a loft, we work with the open volume — defining the kitchen within a larger space without closing it off, and letting the building’s industrial bones read alongside the cabinetry.
In every case the standard is the same. Timber selected by leaf and matched for grain. Drawers dovetailed and squared against the drawings. Finishes hand-applied in honest light. Stone selected slab by slab at the yard, with you present. Hardware in unlacquered brass and bronze that ages with the room.
Installation is carried out by our own fitters, who scribe, calibrate, dress, and document the kitchen before they leave. The relationship continues with aftercare for as long as you own the home.
